Introducing Meghan: Making Food Link Magic in Roxbury

As you might have heard at our Open House, Food Link has partnered with the Greater Boston Collaborative Food Access Hub (GBCFAH) in Roxbury to maximize storage capacity and expand our operations. In November and December, we moved 80,000 lbs of food through the Roxbury warehouse, serving both old and new agency partners. At the center, Meghan, our Roxbury Logistics Manager, has been instrumental in facilitating communication between GBCFAH partners and Food Link, acquiring more donations for our recipient agencies, and overseeing the storage and distribution of our Roxbury pickups. Recently, our Admin Assistant Darcy had the chance to interview Meghan about her important work. Read on to learn more!

Meghan started her career in manufacturing and supply chain management, even running a warehouse for Frito-Lay in Rochester, NY. After the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, Meghan recalls feeling a “pull toward the nonprofit sector,” bringing her to urban farms and mobile farmers markets until she came to the nonprofit grocery store chain Daily Table. When Daily Table unfortunately closed in May 2025, Food Link hired Meghan as a part-time Operations Assistant. Now, Meghan has returned to her warehouse roots by managing our Roxbury program as a full-time Food Link employee.

Today, you can find Meghan at the Roxbury warehouse coordinating large pickups and deliveries, and onboarding new food donors and recipient agencies. As this is a new operation, Meghan has been critical to establishing systems that ensure the smooth running of Food Link’s inventory. “It’s been a whirlwind of setting up our warehouse space and matching large-scale donations with the right agencies,” Meghan describes.

Warehouses face unique challenges, but, fortunately, Meghan is up to the task. “Food recovery volumes shift dramatically, and in a 26,700 sq. ft. facility, you might end up with offerings of 10 pallets of a single item all in one day,” she states. “My focus is on keeping inventory moving to ensure nothing goes to waste.”

When asked about her favorite part of the job, Meghan says that it has to be working with the agencies on our waitlist. “I love giving tours and seeing people’s reactions when they realize the sheer volume of food they can take back to their communities,” Meghan recounts. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see that immediate impact.”

As of January, Meghan has onboarded four new partner agencies through our Roxbury location and is in regular communication with eight more partners. In November and December, over 20% of our total food moved through Roxbury.

While her duties require resourcefulness and attention, Meghan still brings fun into her work. During the first week of January, Food Link received two pallets of lettuce, four pallets of cucumbers, two pallets of tomatoes, and four pallets of salad dressing at Roxbury. “Essentially, we had enough supplies to make a warehouse-sized salad,” Meghan jokes.

If you are interested in volunteering at Roxbury, Meghan has some words of encouragement: “Working in a warehouse is a surreal experience—giant open spaces, large bulk containers, and pallet jacks. My best advice is to stay aware of your surroundings and never hesitate to ask questions. We’ve only been here a few months, so your fresh eyes and ideas are exactly what will help us grow.” Individuals eighteen and older can sign up to volunteer at our Roxbury site on our Get Involved page.

We are so grateful to have Meghan on our team and for all the effort she has put into building our Roxbury program. If you happen to visit the GBCFAH warehouse, make sure to stop by and say hello to Meghan!
